Short-Term Stay After Hospital Admission
Patients that have been admitted to a hospital for a minimum of three nights may have the option for a short-term stay in our center to receive 24-hour Nursing care and Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy up to seven-days each week. Patients may also request a short-term Respite in-patient stay for periods of a few days to several months.

Patients that require a permanent in-patient stay may be admitted from the Hospital, Assisted Living Facility or Home after receiving an admission order from their primary physician.

[review] => Transitioning our mom into care was an incredibly difficult process, but from the first day she landed at Sarasota Point we knew she was in the right hands. The staff not only ensured her safety, comfort, and dignity, they went above and beyond to create a warm, inviting environment where she truly felt like family. Our mom made new friends, laughed heartily, and enjoyed playing games with fellow residents. It was evident that every team member—from the compassionate CNAs and dedicated nurses to the cheerful recreation specialists, talented chefs, and meticulous housekeeping staff—poured their hearts into caring for her. She even fell in love with the food! The genuine care and kindness extended not only to our mom but to our whole family, offering us the support and privacy we needed during the most challenging of times. When our mom peacefully drew her last breath last month she was surrounded by her children and a staff that nurtured her every step of the way. Although our hearts were breaking at the loss of our mom, they guided us through our goodbyes with sensitivity and grace, making her transition a thing of beauty. Thank you to every single person who makes this facility a haven for aging individuals with love and human kindness. This is a 5-star care experience in every sense of the word.

This is an older facility but the nurses, CNAs, therapists, staff and managers were professional, compassionate, dedicated and genuinely focused on the wellbeing of those under their care. In any nursing or long term care facility, it’s the people who make the difference. If you have a loved one who needs this level of care, you can rest assured that they will be well cared for at Sarasota Point.

[review] => I can’t say enough about Sarasota Point Rehab Center. It’s all about the people, the kind, caring people who took the time to show tenderness and kindness to my husband and to me. There are so many people I would like to acknowledge but I will say that there are a few standouts for me. Maggie, the director of nursing / this is her passion, this facility is her pride and joy, to say she goes the extra mile for her residents and family and staff would be an understatement.
Linda, the CNA, what a dynamo, a force, knew just the right mix of encouragement and push to get my husband to do what he should have been doing, will never forget you. And nurses Debbie and Eduardo, such special people - thank you. Vanessa, the social worker, so careful and professional and so very good at the job of helping us sort through just about everything we had to deal with. Vanessa helped bring the overwhelming into manageable.

[review] => I selected Sarasota point as a short term rehab for my 89 year old uncle after researching on the web due to being out of state and when I arrived to visit the facility before transferring him from the hospital I was very impressed from my first step into the facility. Everyone was so welcoming! The facility was bright and clean. The private rooms were excellent. I had recently gone through this with my 89 year old mother in Sarasota and unfortunately she had a double room and that was very uncomfortable at times to the point that I had to ask for her to be moved. I don’t remember all the names of the folks but they were all very caring and sweet to my Uncle. I want to especially that Venessa in social services who was very responsive to my requests and made the transition for my uncle to his new assisted living facility very seamless !!

[review] => My 81 year old father with dementia was admitted to Sarasota Point recently for about three weeks and we had a very positive experience. All of the staff I interacted with were outstanding. I would check in most days with the PT /OT / Speech Therapy team and they would provide an update on his progress. While at Sarasota Point, he made significant improvements in his strength and movement. They got him back on his feet - literally. The nursing staff were all very attentive to him. Most days he ate in his room but they have a nice dining room with outdoor pavilion and there were many activities during the day going on - musicians, games etc. On several days there was Big Band music playing in the hallways which Dad loves. Vanessa and Melissa were extremely helpful explaining how everything works during intake and discharge and answering any questions during his stay. The front desk team members were always there to greet you and were very helpful. The facility is very clean and organized inside and the outside is nice with several little gazebos. I would wheel Dad around the property or sit in the gazebo and look at the scenery. Everyone who works there was very professional.

This facility was touted to me as a five star facility. It is not. Except for a few organizations, I have been unable to find anyone who rates it higher than 3.7 stars. Here’s why:
I am basically incontinent so I use a condom catheter at night. I used one each night of my stays at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and for each night of my stays at SMH Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility and for my first night here. When I requested that someone put one on me tonight, I received three irreconcilable responses.
1. My nurse is named Usha. Her assistant told me that Usha was still
distributing medicines.
2. Shift change is at 7 so it could be as late as 8 by the time they would get around to me.
3. Usha herself told me that she needed an order from a doctor to affix the condom catheter.
I’m not sure what to make of those three irreconcilable evasions.
When my condom catheter was removed this morning some of my urine spilled on the floor. Hours later my wife saw it and dropped some tissues and an old napkin to sop it up.
None of my meals has been what I ordered. Lunch today was not even close.
Earlier today I was lying in bed and I felt something poking into my right buttocks. It was small pieces of medical equipment equipment.
This morning Usha said that she was unable to hang my vancomycin; hopefully it comes on our 9 am delivery.

[review] => There are always 2 sides to every story. The most recent review with "my Dad living here since June 1st" is one side of the story. This is from a daughter that lives in California and NEVER ONCE set foot into Sarasota Point to visit her Father. I am the son and POA and live locally. No facility is perfect. But we are VERY happy with Dad's level of care. Dad in the "Lido" section and we love his primary Caryn and all the staff that looks after Dad. Stacy Norkin was our first point of contact and she answered all of our questions/concerns before we moved Dad into this location. Between my wife and I we are fortunate that we can visit Dad several times a week to pop in and make sure he is well cared for. Dad is a Dementia FALL RISK and the staff is constantly monitoring him and giving us updates. It takes a "village" to care for Dad and WHEN Dad had his heart attack in July and went to Sarasota Hospital they made SURE he was comfortable and able to recover fully upon his return. This "Sister" has been invited to join Dad's next Care plan meeting to get all of her questions answered from the staff via Zoom in 2 weeks.... Thank you Sarasota Point for working WITH us......

[review] => After my sister barely survived devastating hurricane Ian after falling alone in the dark on her flooded floor, unable to get up from weakness without her oxygen, her medications wet while her blood sugar levels skyrocketed she was found, transported to the Sarasota hospital, received surgery for a wound and soon needing skilled nursing care. After researching a list of possible skilled nursing facilities, Sarasota Point Rehabilitation Center was contacted. Amber quickly responded, answering questions and completing the arrangements for admission. She continues to provide excellent ongoing sound, professional, family-friendly and caring communication, while ensuring smoothly coordinated services to meet needs through nursing staff and the business office, where Lori has taken on my sister’s complicated insurance paperwork with amazing skill. Lori’s knowledge navigating through the process necessary to finally meet my sister’s multiple medical, physical, nursing and financial challenges is remarkable. My sister enjoys her meals and is making terrific progress. She praises care from several of her nurses and Mario, whom she notes as being compassionate and very helpful while adding a happy smile to her day. Indeed, Sarasota Point’s quality team exemplifies excellence in meeting my sister’s needs. The most careless and unprofessional staff I have ever encountered in my life. If you’re okay with your loved ones falling face first out of bed onto the cold hard tile then this is the center for you. Make sure you stress the fact they’re an extreme fall risk so they can blatantly ignore it. They also enjoy lying straight to your face with multiple different stories and none of them make sense. The unit manager Amelia is a beyond unpleasant person who will argue with you about your loved one falling being acceptable and expected. The director of the facility is no better. If you truly do not care about your loved ones then maybe consider this facility.

[review] => A month ago I brought my mother to Sarasota Point for temporary rehabilitation. This was a huge mistake on my part. While the facility is kept up well, a majority of the staff were indeed asleep at the switch. To get to the point my mom was directly across the nursing station. It was indeed a challenge to get any of the staff to even lift a finger. They were virtually helpless in their own right to even function as someone who could breath yet be a CNA let alone attend to the needs of their supposed patients.
As I recall while my mother was yelling for help with me pounding on the glass from the outside due to Covid restrictions all the while looking through the glass to see 4 African American women and one African American male ignoring my mothers request while they talked with each other.
For mother she has indicated this is an experience she never wants to go through ever again. She doesn’t understand why these people are being paid to do absolutely nothing at all. She questions how this facility is still in operation and I whole heartily agree. Her rating is an F minus.

[review] => I was searching for a Skilled Nursing Facility when my mother was recently in the hospital for a hip replacement. Mom would need a few weeks of therapy to help get her back on her feet so she could return to her condo. The team at Sarasota Point Rehabilitation center was outstanding. They explained everything to us during each step of her treatment and gave my mother excellent care. I was even impressed that she actually gained a few pounds from the food...which she loved! [review] => My aunt is currently at Sarasota Point. I wouldn’t say that I like it the best, but she went there for rehab, then ended up needing to apply for Medicaid, so she just stayed there. Her level of need was too high for assisted living. The rehab side is very good. I was not impressed with the regular nursing home side, so I actually had her moved back to the rehab side. She’s doing better now. I was very unhappy with the nursing side; they overmedicated her and made her very lethargic. She actually started to develop a bad sore, so I demanded that she be moved back to the rehab side, which they call the transitional care side. She is receiving much better care, the bed sore is resolving, and she’s awake and alert.

The decor seemed a little outdated though. I was taken on a tour of the facility. The staff seemed polite, however they also seemed overworked and rushed. There are numerous activities for the patients. The patient rooms are standard and again, outdated. There were no private rooms available for my Grandmother and that was discouraging. While walking through the facility, I also noticed it was not as clean as I would have preferred and every once in a while I would get the distinct smell of feces. For the most part, the staff was courteous, but some of them acted as if I was not even there. And I saw patient lights going off all over the place and not being tended to. I decided against this facility for my Grandmother.

[review] => We visited Harmony Pavilion while in Sarasota recently, checking out assisted living facilities in the region for my friend's mother.
The grounds looked lovely and well tended, with beautiful landscaping and seating areas.
The foyer had a nice seating area - and we could see one of the main rooms from there. It was well decorated and looked comfortable.
We saw a lot of social interaction for the many organized activities available. The book selection and the fact that regular trips are made to the local library to expand their collection would interest my friend's mother.
There are many outings and events during spring, summer and fall - from on-sight socials with the local church - to theater presentations in and around the community.
We saw a variety of healthy, fresh foods available. My friend's mother has always enjoyed eating well, so this is important.
They schedule plenty of activities to choose from, including cultural events for all who are interested. There are a number of wellness and fitness programs to encourage participation from residents. The staff has adequate support to successfully deliver access of all of these things to the residents.
The rooms were all decorated nicely -- as were the dining room and all of the communal grounds.
Overall, we really liked the facility and would recommend that people in the area take a look at it as an option for their loved ones.

Transitioning our mom into care was an incredibly difficult process, but from the first day she landed at Sarasota Point we knew she was in the right hands. The staff not only ensured her safety, comfort, and dignity, they went above and beyond to create a warm, inviting environment where she truly felt like family. Our mom made new friends, laughed heartily, and enjoyed playing games with fellow residents. It was evident that every team member—from the compassionate CNAs and dedicated nurses to the cheerful recreation specialists, talented chefs, and meticulous housekeeping staff—poured their hearts into caring for her. She even fell in love with the food! The genuine care and kindness extended not only to our mom but to our whole family, offering us the support and privacy we needed during the most challenging of times. When our mom peacefully drew her last breath last month she was surrounded by her children and a staff that nurtured her every step of the way. Although our hearts were breaking at the loss of our mom, they guided us through our goodbyes with sensitivity and grace, making her transition a thing of beauty. Thank you to every single person who makes this facility a haven for aging individuals with love and human kindness. This is a 5-star care experience in every sense of the word.
